बिल्ली एक घरेलू और बहुत ही प्यारा जानवर है। बिल्ली को लोग बहुत प्यार करते हैं। बिल्ली की बहुत सारी प्रजातियां होती है और बिल्ली का रंग भी अलग-अलग होता है। कुछ बिल्लियां काली होती है तो कुछ सफेद होती हैं। बिल्ली का स्किन भी अलग-अलग तरह का हो सकता है। किसी-किसी बिल्ली के बाल लंबे होते हैं तो किसी के बाल छोटे होते हैं और बिल्लियों का पूरा शरीर बाल से ढका रहता है।
बिल्ली बाघ की तरह दिखने में होती है। वह असल में उसी प्रजाति की सदस्य है। बिल्ली को चूहे खाने में बहुत मजा आता है और वह दूध भी बड़े चाव से पीती है। बिल्ली मांसाहारी और शाकाहारी दोनों प्रकार की होती है। वैसे तो बिल्ली ख़तरनाक नहीं होती लेकिन कभी-कभी वह गुस्से में घर के किसी सदस्य को नुकसान पहुंचा सकती है। इसलिए बिल्ली के साथ सावधानी से रहना चाहिए।
बिल्ली की आंखें बहुत चमकदार होती है वह भूरे रंग या फिर हरे रंग की होती है। बिल्ली की आंखें अंधेरे में चमकती हुई दिखती है। बिल्ली कम रोशनी या रात में भी देख सकती है। रास्ते में चलते हुए अगर बिल्ली रास्ता काट दे तो लोग उसे अशुभ मानते हैं। हालांकि यह एक अंधविश्वास है। बिल्ली को कुत्ते से बहुत डर लगता है क्योंकि कुत्ते बिल्ली को खा सकता है।
